First Live-Tweeted C-Section!
Fri, 02-22-2013 - 2:41pm

ore than 11,000 babies are born in the United States every day. But so far, only one birth has been live-tweeted by doctors. Thanks to the social-media-savvy staff at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston — who have already live-tweeted an open-heart surgery and a brain surgery — the Twittersphere was welcomed on Feb. 20 to a graphic behind-the-scenes look at a c-section birth. Under the username @houstonhospital and using the hashtag #MHbaby, a medical team tweeted the play-by-play, including photos and videos of the prep, surgery, and delivery. The doctors also responded to questions posed on the thread. The increasingly frenetic result is a riveting moment-by-moment account of a standard surgical procedure rendered as dramatic as a Hollywood action film, blood and gore included.

Wow!  Pretty interesting stuff!  How would you feel about having your c-section being broadcast via Twitter?

Not only no, but ..... Granted my c-section was an emergency and at a bad time, but I similarly would not have tweeted the VBAC either. We did not have "during" photographs or videos. Some things do not need to be shared with the world.

My scheduled c-section was a very positive experience and I wouldn't have had a problem with it being broadcasted as long as my identity wasn't revealed.

At the hospitals I delivered at, they did not allow anyone to record video during either style of birth. I wouldn't have wanted videos of my vaginal births (me or my children either one need to remember hearing my screams), but I do wish I had a video (just my head shot and baby shots) of the c-section so I could have a true record of my baby's first cry. *Sweetest Sound Ever*

I don't think so. Well, maybe if someone else was doing all the tweeting.  LOL  I wouldn't want to pull myself away from the experience for a second to share it with the world.
