Going back to work?

I had my c-section 3 weeks ago and won't see my doctor again until 7 weeks pp (4 more weeks). My dad just mentioned to me a job possibility with his company that would include insurance benefits so I'm seriously considering taking it however, I know they won't want to wait a month for me to get the all clear from my doctor so I was hoping someone would have some advice. Is it okay to go back to work between 4-6 weeks pp when you have a c-section? Its just a desk job so I'd be sitting all day and no lifting or anything so I don't think it would be a problem but wanted to ask someone before I talked to my Dad's boss about the job opening.

It depends on how you feel.

I feel totally fine and don't have any pain at all anymore. I just wanted to make sure that it would be okay. Thanks for answering!

I think you'll be fine -- especially if you are feeling okay. For me, the more difficult part would be child care and keeping the BFing rhythm going -- it typically takes me a few more weeks to establish good supply and a rhythm with baby but if you're gung ho about this job, I say go for it!

Child care isn't an issue. DH works nights so would be home during the day with him. BFing I'm a little more worried about and I still haven't decided 100% what I'll do. Thanks for responding though!

As long as you feel fine, there is no reason not to start the new job. After my 2nd c-section i was ready to go back to work the day I got released from the hospital! I of course waited until I had an established breastfeeding routine and was okay switching my DS to a bottle for most of the day. The main thing they want you to really wait a little longer for is as far as heavy lifting and strain on your abdominal muscles. A tear could be very serious, but with a desk job, there is no risk of that. Good luck and congratulations on the new bundle of joy and the new job offer!!~
