Honest Opinions!!

I want some HONEST opinions about c-sections...

I've heard that they take out your uterus to sew it up.. and that it feels really weird when they put it back. Is this true?

Do you throw up during this? I've heard this too...

Is the spinal really bad??? (I'm terrified about this!)

What is all the 'pressure' about? I'm confused on how exactly this part feels.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!!! My c-section is tomorrow and I'm just now starting to get nervous!

Okay, I'm having my first c-section in 3 weeks, so I can only give an honest answer on the spinal block question:

I've heard that they take out your uterus to sew it up.. and that it feels really weird when they put it back. Is this true? For me they did have to take my uterus out because I had two quarter sized holes that they had to sew up. They even showed my husband so I know it had to be out. It didn't really feel weird as you're all numbed up plus you're too happy about being a new mom to care. :)

Do you throw up during this? I've heard this too...The medication did make me a little nauseus but the nurse quickly gave me medicine in my IV for it so it went away. Not a problem.

Is the spinal really bad??? (I'm terrified about this!) The spinal was what terrified me most beforehand too but it wasn't painful at all. I honestly didn't feel a thing and it worked like a charm.

What is all the 'pressure' about? I'm confused on how exactly this part feels. The pressure for me felt like someone was pushing on my chest. It was a little weird feeling but it wasn't painful for me. All I ever felt was pushing and tugging. That's it.

I know it all seems very scary, but try to relax. You'll see that it will all work out okay and you'll be on a very emotional high tomorrow when you're holding your little baby boy. I wish you the best of luck and my congratulations! Try to update us when you can. :)

Christina - I hope that everything goes well with your section tomorrow - please do come back and tell us your birth story!

I don't know that this is true for everyone. In my last 2 sections, things were fairly quick and routine -- so they didn't "take my uterus out" to do the incision repair.

I threw up during my first section, but wasn't sick during my second. In my first they gave me an anti-nausea drug which made the nausea go away after I threw up. It has a lot to do as a side effect of the medication.

No, but with my last 2 I was in labor - so it was just pain relief rather than any sort of pain of the spinal.

When it's time to take the baby out, you'll feel some pulling and tugging as the doctors reach in to get the baby. It's not painful, but it feels like "pressure" on your tummy.
