With my two previous daughters my c section was at 40 weeks. As i was trying for a vag delivery which never progressed. This time around being my 3rd c section i might have it at 37 weeks ,due to health reasons. How early has anyone had their cesarean done without complications? Is 37 weeks too early?

Doctors now know that waiting as long as possible to do a c-section is normally the best case, however if you have medical reasons why earlier is better then that can't be compared with a typical uncomplicated planned c-section with no medical urgency. Your doctor will most likely do a amno to test for lung maturity if they do plan on delivering the baby early. Most docs wait till 39 weeks minimum but like I said if there are medical reasons all other minimums are tossed out the window and docs will do what is best in your specific case.

Keep us posted and let us know if you need anything else.

The earliest my OB would've done my second section was 38w 2d (that was in his words "the earliest I would feel comfortable doing a c-section").

Congratulations on your upcoming birth! I wonder if you're expecting a 3rd little daughter or if you're expecting a little blue in your house of pink?

My doctor says that they try to do sections around 39 weeks and will only do them much earlier IF there are indicative medical reasons. I agree with Dionne that your doc will most likely want to do an amnio to test for lung maturity. If he/she doesn't suggest this, I would 100% request one b/c you don't want to have a baby that has immature lung disease. (My DD that was just born spent a week in the NICU b/c she had respiratory distress -- even though she was born at 39.1 weeks. It was NOT fun!!!)

I'm having a scheduled c section with this baby, and I asked my doctor for the earliest date possible b/c I'm so uncomfortable. But he explained that there was a brand new study advising Doctors to wait until 39 weeks for a 2nd time csection. He said it was b/c with 2nd csection babies they were having a lot of the infants having breathing issues. I haven't seen or read the study myself, but I tend to trust the dr. I was wanting 37 wks, but with the new info am happy to wait. Hope that helps :)

My daughter was born by csection at 37 weeks. But my water broke and I had failure to progress as far as dilating goes so they took her by csection. My daughter was very silent which freaked me out! But she was just fine as could be and healthy as could be!
