I was driving within 3 days after I got out of the hospital. So, that would be 6 days after delivery. They recommend that you wait 2 weeks before driving or riding in the car. But, I didn't have a choice because my hospital doctor said that I needed to take the baby to the doctors within 3 days after leaving the hospital for a check up. So, that pretty much forced me to drive. It wasn't bad and I took it easy (especially over the bumps). I did however trade my husband cars for the day (mine is a stick shift and his is automatic).

Welcome to the board, most doctors will tell you no driving for 6 weeks, or till you are the minimum off of your pain meds. What you need to understand is there is liability issues with insurance, your insurer can deny any claim you file if you drive and are in a crash. Check with your insurance company if there are any limitations following surgery.

You just had major surgery so take it easy and do not rush it, talk to your doctor and your insurance agency for any restrictions to be aware of.

Keep us posted.

My OB said 2 weeks, but I didn't make it that long...I think I went a week and a half.

I waited a week exactly, and was off pain meds. I also drove a standard car - I was a little worried about that, but it ended up being totally fine!

Good Luck!
