Anyone ever have their incision be left open and then heal from the inside out?

I didn't have that experience, but I imagine that they will want you to follow the same procedure as if you had just had your section -- so minimial water exposure, but you're probably okay being up and about. Hopefully they will treat you with antibiotics and you will heal up quickly. Unless your infection is widespread, I doubt they would open the full incision, but just the area of infection.

Did you get some additional information from your doctor?

I hope you are okay! Keep us posted!

My incision opened in three spots (1-2.5" across and 1" deep). Would not heal for 7 weeks. Kept it clean and covered, weekly trips to my family practice doc ect.

Went back to the surgeon and she dabbed silver nitrate on it. First session it was 95% closed. Second (a week later)visit and it was totally closed a couple days later. Hurt like a...... but worked very fast.

What it does is chemically burn the tissue so that it kills all the bad bugs and stimulates the tissue to re-generate.

I had my incision open up with my first c section. It stayed open for a couple weeks and then closed up. Im sorry you have to have it re-opened. Yucky... I remember the feeling. Mine started healing SUPER FAST when my Dr. told me to do half poroxide half water and dab it with a qtip like twice a day. Crazy quick! Like a week and it was almost closed completely. Hope you get your situation squared away!
