Hi everyone! I am new to this board. I had an emergency c-section April 30 and while I can move around pretty well now, my main problem is with lying down. I can't do it comfortably for long and if I do lie down, I can't move around much and it's hard to get back up. Is this normal and for how long? I've been sleeping in a reclining chair and I would really like to be able to sleep in a bed again. I'm breastfeeding, too and it's hard to nurse lying down. How long did it take others before they could be comfortable? I try not to twist or turn unexpectedly and I can nap in bed for an hour or so, but not all night. Any tips, advice or ideas for resting comfortably would be **greatly** appreciated.

thanks!!

Hi! I have a question first... are you trying to lie on your back or on your side? If its the side, that can be uncomfortable for a while, and it hasn't been that long since your c-section. I recall that I could lie on my side for a little bit, but that when I moved to get up, I would get a shart pain here and there. I don't recall any pain while lying on my back other than when trying to get up. My best advice for trying to remedy the pain is to use pillows (similar to how you did when pregnant) for lying down, and try to roll yourself off a bed or couch to get up.

You may want to mention the pain to your doctor if it happens only when you lie down. You could maybe have an infection, or other problem that is causing it rather than your position.

Best wishes to you and Congratulations!

Congrats on the new baby. Kelly gave you good info on laying down. As far as BFing laying down, I have heard from a lot of moms in my nursing group that it gets much easier when the baby is a little older. For us it was about 2 1/2 months, but we had lots of trouble with everything about nursing.
