welcome to the board and congrats on your pg how exciting. Most moms are absolutely capable to perform the duties of motherhood after the c-section. I've had 2 c-sections and both times I cared for my kids. Your best bet is to make sure that you take your pain meds on a strict schedule, any problems moms experience with pain post c-section is from the peaks and valleys when the pain meds are wearing off and kicking in again. If you keep yourself on a schedule, every 3 and a 1/2 hours take your next dose, you will not experience the peaks and valleys and be much more comfortable. You shouldn't have to take narcotic to achieve this either. I personally was on 2 Ibuprofen and 2 extra strength Tylenol every 3.5 hours and was comfortable. Talk to your doctor about your options of post om pain meds and what they prescribe. I would also highly suggest you have someone stay with you for a few weeks once the baby arrives, they will be able to take care of the house and chores and you can take care of the baby. Make ahead meals and freeze them to help ease yourself back into the kitchen. The last month of my pg I cooked double batches of all our meals and froze half of it.

I would also suggest you read over the birth plan that is on this board to help you understand what to expect and what other moms found helpful and what they would not want for their next c-section.

Any more questions just holler, again welcome to the board and congrats on expecting, the time will fly by.

My only time I needed help was while I was in the hospital and the first week after I got home.

Thank you very much that puts my mind at ease and makes me feel more confident in the fact that a C section may be the wise and safe choose for me...

Jen - I just had my 3rd C section and I will echo what everyone else has already said -- I've had no problem taking care of baby - you will be sore for the first few days, but after the first week
