Since I am 39 and this child was conceived via IUI, we are 99.9% certain this is our last time.

Since I'll be opened anyway, DH and I are considering having me undergo a tubal ligation. Is anyone else considering this?

I am not, but there are many, many women (including my BFF!) that had it done at the same time! My doctor commented that it might be hard to do a tubal on me b/c of the scar tissue I have built up... but that was my 3rd C section.

I think this is a very personal decision -- but if you're 100% sure no matter what then I say go for it!

G/L!

I had my 3rd c/s on 5/3 and also had a tubal done, this was an easy choice since we knew we were done having kids and since I was already there in the OR and there was no additional charge for the procedure. It didn't take any extra time, I think it's just a matter of minutes, if that. Good luck on your upcoming delivery.

I gave birth via c-section six weeks before my 43rd birthday. HECK YES, I had a tubal ligation!

I had the tubal done during my c-section in March. And I think if you are absolutely sure that you are done and want a tubal it works out perfectly to do it then. Didn't feel a thing when they did it, and couldn't tell if there was any extra discomfort since I was already healing from the c-section.

The only thing I will add is that even though I knew I was done-done, I think I took the baby blues about it a little harder this time. I just felt much more sad about not being pregnant anymore and realizing that I really wouldn't EVER be pregnant again. But, I'm still happy with my decision cause once the hormones from that settle a bit, I remember WHY I don't want to be pregnant anymore, and I'm very thrilled with our family size and I know I couldn't handle any more.
