I try not to be freaked out but it's surgery so I don't know if that's really possible!

my plan is to have dd in the waiting room w/my FIL and SIL too. (at least i hope FIL and SIL will come; i haven't actually discussed it with them LOL). i talked to the doc about an extra support person; he said the size of the OR doesn't permit two support ppl in there at all times, but DH and my Dsis could switch off once they whisk the baby off for testing and whatnot, and i should be able to have my skin-to-skin within 30 min-1 hour of baby being born. not my ideal situation, but one i can work with. now if they'll just let me have my muppet music playing during the delivery, we'll be all set :)

My kids both spent about 1 hr 15 mins in the nursery. They were totally healthy, apgars of 9 and 10. I would definitely do the skin to skin before they take the baby or actually most hospitals are doing away with the nursery visit completely. You should be able to keep the baby with you and have the exams done in your room when you get out of the OR.

Hi Jessica - I am 6 days away from having C section #4. This will be my second scheduled and honestly, I can tell you that I had no pain at all with the spinal. It was actually very easy. I was nervous last time around b/c with the prior spinals I had them while I was in labor and I figured I just couldn't feel it b/c of the labor pain, but even last time around it was really nothing.

I do hope the lock down is over by the time you are ready to deliver... if not, you might ask if your DS can briefly visit as an execption... doesn't hurt to ask, right? I know I would totally miss my kiddos if I didn't get to see them for the full 3 days in hospital...
