You should be able to bf in the recovery room (if you feel up to it) after the c/s.

Please make it known to your doctor and nursing staff that this is your priority. After baby is born, they will take you back to a recovery room and you should be able to BF immediately. (unless baby needs some sort of special care) -- For us, at my hospital, this is before baby is given a bath or dressed and is usually within the first hour after birth.

G/L with your upcoming C. Please post your birth story if you have a chance! We'd love to hear how it goes!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

You should totally be able to BF right away :) My epidural gave us some trouble my c/s so I was too numb to hold Asher, however, the nurse held him so he could feed. I'm not sure how old he was exactly but definitely less than 2 hrs. By the next time he was ready to nurse my arms were back in action so it was much easier! Some c/s moms find that their milk comes in more slowly. Mine came in at full force at about 50 hours - really pretty early for a 1st time mom. Hopefully your experience will be just as good :)

I am a bit confused by the VBAC question...is this your first c/s? If so, VBAC may be an option with your next baby. In my area it isn't due to legal concerns but others have had different experiences.
