Not a candidate for vbac...very upset can't stop crying

Well I just moved to NC from FL. I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my second child. With my first I had a cesarean because of macrosomia- he was born 10.3 oz. This time around I decided I should try vbac. I went to all the ican message boards and researched as much as I could. I settled for Dr. Delisa Skeete. Throughout the first and second trimesters everything seemed fine only I was measuring 3 weeks ahead. There was no mention ever how I was not a candidate for vbac. All my tests came out normal. When I was 35 weeks pregnant my husband got a job offer to work in High Point NC. I went into panic mode trying to find a vbac friendly doctor. People told me I shouldn't have a problem with that since NC is more Vbac friendly than FL. Dr. Henry Dorn came highly recommended I spoke to several doulas and midwives in the area and also read his profile online. Well turns out I'm not the ideal vbac candidate and I'm pissed as hell that my first doctor deceived me... First, my baby measures at 9.7 oz and will likely be over 10oz at birth like my first one. Also the thickness of my cesarean scar is 2.3 mm, and with the previous cesarean I had a single layer suture which ups my risk for a uterine rupture coupled with the fact that I'll have a large baby. Dr. Henry Dorn went through the list of things that could go wrong and it was not pretty. In fact it scared me to death. My whole pregnancy I thought I would be able to vbac now I'm not so sure. I have no family here, my husband started working and I also have a 4 year old with a speech delay at home. My husband said he will try to have a couple of days off to take care of my son and me. His idea is to camp out in the hospital with our son until I'm well enough to leave. I don't think the hospital will allow our 4 year old to spend the nights there. We don't have enough money for a baby sitter or doula since we used up our funds move here and my husband's paycheck does not come until the end of the month. I know we're so stupid for being so unprepared but I really thought that I would be able to have a smooth delivery. I really don't know what to do. I keep on getting flashbacks on how hard the recovery was last time. I was pretty much handicapped for a couple of weeks. I needed someone to bring me my baby, I couldn't walk or do do anything. The doctor told me a cesarean the second time around has a faster recovery and he has most women out of the hospital after 2 days. So now I have to think of how the hell I'm going to prepare for another surgery and make my recovery as fast as possible. If this cesarean is like the last one I know that it will be very hard for me....

I'mso sorry to hear that! I didn't end up being a goid candidate, either. For what it's worth, my second surgery was much easier than the first. But I was still there the full four days. Can anyone from your family come help?

:smileysad: I'm so sorry that you may not be able to even try for a vbac. I can understand why you are so upset! And it is much harder to try to plan for your recovery from a c-section delivery when you have older kids at home. I don't know that the hospital will let your ds stay or not, but hopefully you will have a good nursing staff that can step in and really assist you if your dh does have to be home with your son while you are in the hospital.

I've only had one c-section, and it was planned, and my recovery went really well. By the time I got home I was feeling well enough to do the basic things that needed to be done in our home. I still had my dh to do laundry and the more heavy duty type cleaning, cause I didn't want to push myself and risk messing up my recovery.

Praying for you! I really hope everything works out smoothly, and that maybe you will get your vbac, but if not, hopefully you will have a very easy delivery and recovery this time regardless! GL!!
