It has been almost five weeks since i had my son by c-section,and i really felt ready to resume relations with my DH.Boy was that a big mistake! It hurt so much we couldn't go through with it-it honestly felt like he wouldn't fit(sorry if tmi).My DH is convinced we are never going to have sex again, and you know,if it keeps hurting that bad,he is right!Does anyone have advice for me?I am breastfeeding if that makes a difference.I am just so confused about why it would hurt, since i didn't have a vaginal delivery.TIA,

Beware, a TMI post right here! LOL

After my 1st csection, I was surprised to find outt he same thing, and we waited over 8 weeks to resume relations. It felt like the *you know what* of his was rubbing a scar, literally. Not sure that's even possible, but it was a terrible painful creepy feeling. He's learned to be patient, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. We've also found that positions that used to be great before my sections, are out of the question forever now, so we've experimented wtih new positions that both of us can be happy and satisfied with. You might try that. Basically, one position that used to not be that great at all, is now my favorite as it is the most pleasurable. I will probably never know why or how sex after a section is so uncomfortable, but it is.

Take care, it will get better as the days go by.

thanks ladies for sharing! i hope things can get back to normal=dh and i used to have a fabulous sex life, and we are still practically newlyweds-married august 2002.so i would hate to think that we won't be able to enjoy a physical relationship. i think we will try again in a few days, after i have a glass of wine-lol-and a breastfeeding friend recommended i get some sort of lotion like KY to make things a bit easier.i just hope we can make it work...steph

Hi Steph, first, congrats on yuor new baby!! Did you have a boy or a girl? I had the same problem with my 2nd c/s, except the first time we tried, was at 8 weeks. I had extreme abdominal pain, not to mention the other pain. Good news is, it past, and things resumed to normal after 12 weeks. IMO Astroglide is a LOT better than KY :o)

The pain is normal for a lot of women. I don't know exactly why. Maybe you can ask your OB? I felt like I was so much tighter and the pain was so intense. My OB said that after I gave birth even though it was by Csection I was lacking lubricant in that area. I use Astroglide so much better than KY. You only have to use a drop. It helps so much. I think too just the anticipation of the pain was enough to scare me away. We finally got back to normal after several months. My hubby was patient (God bless his soul). Also the same postions we used before we cannot use anymore. Our sex life I have to say is so much better now because we have to do things different. A change can sometimes be a good thing. Hang in there. I am sure things will get better. Defintely try the lubricant. And different positions. There are all kinds of alternatives till you feel better.
