Hi

I know this may be a weird question or a personal question but I wanted to see when did everyone start their period cycle after they had a c section? I had my baby dec 21 2011 and I did a little bleeding from the c section but I dont think that was the start of my period cycle. My dr said it could come at any point since my 6 week post op check up but I haven't had it. Thank all

I don't think you're talking about lochia, which is post-partum bleeding. When you get your period after childbirth depends on other factors, particularly if you're breastfeeding. If you are, your cycles may stay away for as long as a year or more. If you're not, you can expect them to return sometime in the first few months. I ebf and got mine back at 7m the first time and 3.5m the second time.

If this is your first c/s, you should prepare for the possibility that cramping during your period may be more painful arpund your incision. It has been for me.

It isn't my first c/s. it's my second. I stopped breast feeding the next day after my son was born as I was not producing enough and he had lost 13% of his birthweight so the dr had me start formula from there on. I guess I still have to keep waiting to see when I get it then. :)

My c-section baby was born 3/3/11, so she just turned one, and I still haven't started back, since we are still breast feeding.

I always get a nice long break while breast feeding. It came back last time at 18 mos PP even though we were still nursing a few times a day. It never came back while breast feeding with my first two babies though.

However, I've heard people bleed for 6 weeks past the birth and then start up 2 weeks later with their first PP AF even with complete breast feeding, so you just never know what those hormones are going to throw at you.

When did you get it back after you last delivery? If you are fairly normal typically, I would bet it won't be long before it shows up! (unless you're preggo again. Have you tested?)

The bleeding immediately after would be lochia, the bleeding and discharge normally experienced after delivery. If you are breastfeeding, it might not come back until you wean. I've been BFing for 16 months and did not have a cycle til around 6-8 months, but it was sporadic and still is. I don't have regular periods because of my IUD but I do know that was about when I started ovulating, so if not for the iud, that's when my period would have started up.

I am not breast feeding at all. I actually only had a day or two of colostrum and then that was when the doctor advised to start formula so my 3 month old has been on formula since day 2. I do have regular period cycles before my pregnancy so that's why I am a little worried. With my first I breast fed for about a month and then stopped producing and then I had my period soon after that. I haven't had my IUD placed in yet as my doctor wants to do it when I have my period that's why I'm wondering why I haven't had it? My husband and I did have intercourse but he pulled out way before he was going to go. Should I even do a pregnancy test anyways?? Can people get pregnant this quickly after having a baby?thanksfor all your help guys. I don't have family living in the US so I have forums to help me through this!

Yeah, the "pull and pray" method of birth control is not that effective. Ejaculation is not the only time sperm is released, so yes, you could get pregnant because sperm can be released long before the big moment.

I would test. I've always heard that you are actually really fertile just after having a baby, and I do know someone with kids that are 10 mos apart. :)

It may just be taking longer for your system to readjust, but I would test just to at least rule that out if nothing else! GL!!! KUP!!!

I took a test yesterday and it turned out negative. Was a little disappointed is that crazy for me to say? I mean I just had a baby but I'm still wanting to have another one. Hopefully when it's time it will be time :)

Pregnancy tests always make for a mix of emotions. Glad you at least can answer one question. I'd give it a few more weeks before I'd get too concerned about where AF is. I'm sure it is just your hormones trying to work themselves out.

I'm done, done, done having babies (got a tubal during my c-section), but I still get a little sad when I realize that I really won't ever be preggo again. You are right, I'm sure it will happen for you when the time is right. Enjoy that precious baby you have now cause this first year is going to fly by!! I still can't believe my little one just turned 1!!!
