I had a c-section with my son 2 years ago after laboring for 12hrs and pushing for 2hrs. I had pretty good bleeding afterwards for almost 6 weeks.

Yes you'll still bleed...Your uterus will still have to get rid of all the lining and stuff leftover just as if you'd had a vaginal birth. Though, I think I bled less because the doctor does try and clean you out as much as possible while he's in there.

Breastfeeding will help minimize the bleeding as well since it contracts your uterus and the quicker it contracts and shrinks into place, the quicker the bleeding stops.

Laboring didn't seem to have any effect on the amount of bleeding. I bled the same for my VBAC as I did for my 20 hour labor then C/S.

Yes, I agree with the PPs. I had the same amount of bleeding with my births that ended in C sections after long labors and my scheduled C.


Hopefully you won't have it quite so bad this time!
