How long after you have a c section are you supposed to wait till its safe to be pregnant again. I know women who had normal births can be pregnant after 3 or 4 months, but what about a c section? How long til its ok to have a baby again?

I would say the minimum doctors say is 6 months. After my first c-section (which was an emergency one and I had a vertical incision on my uterus which weakens the uterus more than a horizontal one) they wanted me to wait 2 years for it to heal properly and possibly for me to mentally and emotionally heal since my baby didn't survive. But, lo and behold, I found myself pregnant one month later and it did all turn out fine in the end. So, logically I'd advise waiting 6 months but sometimes you just have to follow your heart and take your body along for the ride, you know?

I agree that most doctors will tell you a minimum of 6 months. However, I had 5 months wait between my first PG and my C section and I was fine to even attempt a long labor associated with a VBAC attempt. I think the longer that you can wait the better -- but be sure to ask your care provider who will know any of the specific details about your situation!

Good luck!!
