I had a c-section a year ago. i was wondering if some one could tell me how long it takes to get feeling back at the incison or does it not come back. I am new here and was wondering if there was any one else who has been here after a while??

thanks

when I had my c/s, the OB told me it could take months to get the feeling back, it could take years, and I could always have numb spots if the nerves don't regenerate. Each c/s you have ups the chances of more numbness. Some people get the feeling all back fairly soon. for me it took a lot longer. my c/s was over 2 1/2 years ago, and I've had a vbac since. My feeling has mostly all come back, but it feels just a tiny bit funny in certain spots-- funny enough to make me think that the nerves haven't *all* regenerated- I must have tiny numb spots. I hate for my belly to be touched for that reason. So I think it varies, but it's possible you'll never regain full feeling (from what my OB said), and it's also possible you will, but it's just taking a while.

I'm not sure what you meant by your second question, but welcome to the board!

It depends. I've had 6 c-sections and I do have numb areas that I don't think will ever have feeling again. It doesn't really bother me.

I have had 2 c sections and I am currently 27 weeks with #3 and I have never regained any feeling, my youngest child is now 6. I hate the thought of having to have this one c section too and what that could do to that awful numb feeling.

Sorry, dont mean to sound mean about it. It doesnt bother me normally.

Hi, I've had 2 c/s's so I know about the numb feeling. I had my 1st c/s in January 1998 & my 2nd c/s in July 2002. When I had my 2nd baby last year, I still had places along my incision line that was still numb. About half of my incision area now is still numb. It isn't anything to worry about though because I asked with both c/s's.
