Through the whole process of your c-section and recovery, what is the highest your pain level went to?

Since I was in labor and having very regular contractions by the time I went in for the c-section, I would say my pain going in was about a 7. I was READY for my spinal!!!
Getting the spinal wasn't bad, and through the whole surgery there was no pain at all. And for several hours after there was no pain since I was still covered very well from the spinal.
Once the spinal wore off, I probably rated the pain about 3-4, and went ahead and took oral meds trying to keep it that low. My doc kept my IV line in for 2 days and I got IV meds by the clock every 6 hours and oral meds every 4. That really kept my pain controlled. At my worst, I think I told the nurse I was at a 6, maybe?
The hardest part was getting up and down, of course, and when I took a shower that was pretty painful cause I couldn't wear my belly binder and gravity was pulling down on my belly in a painful way. But, still no more than a 6 on the pain scale.
Once I went home, if I overdid it, I would hit about 4-5 and take my percocets then. But, most of my pain was very minimal and the Ibuprofen was plenty to cover it.
I found bed time and first thing in the morning to be the most painful, so I usually had to start my day with a good dose of medicine, but once I was up and going I was fine. Not really sure why that was my hardest time.
By the 2nd week though, I barely needed any medicines, and only took the Ibuprofen when I REALLY needed it.
Oh my goodness!!!

I've had a couple of moments where I would consider the worst pain of my life, and they all felt like something was on FIRE (that had not been physically burned)!!! So, I would say you have a pretty good description of your pain there, and if you were feeling that, you were in BAD pain!!
I've been thinking about this all week and can't answer in those terms because I just don't believe the 1-X scale (10 or 12 or lazy-8). At a minimum it's 2-dimentional with "pain" and "fear" as separate axes. Maybe a 3rd axis called "cope".
Pain is not the only factor. Fitness buffs like to say "no pain, no gain" and this is an experience they seek. A not-son of mine (significantly younger but adult friend) in California LIKES to be beaten as a sex thing.
I am not a fan of pain, and try to avoid it at all costs!! LOL
