Big, small, perfect?! Did your baby's size affect your c-section? Was it the cause of your c-section?

Its funny how birth size can be so different from a person's intended size. My best friend was a 9lb baby, which was probably considered even more huge in the early 80s, and now weighs probably 110 soaking wet. She's like 5'5" and looks like a bean pole.

On the other hand, my MIL who has lived with raging uncontrolled diabetes for much of her life, had smallish babies, the biggest being my husband who was 7 lbs. My guess is that malnutrition and an abusive husband outweighed the diabetes and maybe had an impact on the growth. Anyway, now my dh is the smallest of her 4 sons at 6'1" and 220 lbs. His sister was the only one who didn't get the giant genes, but at 5'3", she's still got 3 or 4 inches on her mom!

Manda, I am such a believer that birth size has no indications on intended size either!

I was my mom's biggest baby of 4 weighing 8 lb 10 oz and was 22 in long. All of the others were 7 lbs or under. And now she jokes that her biggest baby is her smallest adult child. My sis is 5' 11" and both of my brothers are over 6 foot tall, and here I am at 5' 4". I look really short when we are all together. And my weight right now is about 118, but I average about 110 not preggo/ not breast feeding. So, definitely being a big baby did not mean I was doomed to be a large woman!!

That's why I get frustrated when people would always comment on my large babies like they were always going to be big too. My ds#1 was 30 lbs by the time he was 9 mos old, but now at 9 yrs old he's in the perfectly normal weight range!

I had GD for my first, which is why they figured DD would be at least a 10lber, My second I had it very mildly and was able to control it easily with diet. My big boy was actually a perfect textbook pregnancy! But man oh man did my ribs hurt! In fact both my boys my ribs were in a fair amount of pain from the size of those boys. I'm not a very tall person either, not quite 5'1", so those babies do take up a bit of room.

I just seem to grow them big!

Baby moose! Haha! I'm 5'2", so I get it. Mine turned into a baby moose starting around 4 months. By 6 months, he was 28 lbs and still only breastfed! What is it with little mamas and big ol babies?! Luckily he started growing longer instead of wider around 9-10 months. Now at 16 mos, he's actually down to 25 lbs. I don't think he ever got up to 30 lbs though, so Jen, you win the chubbiest baby award! Wow!

Well, I make them big, but my sister who is almost 2 inches shorter than I am, generally has little ones. 6lbers and such. Her first was her biggest at 7lbs 7oz. And they are all appearing to stay short little kids.
