Tuesday Talk: How easy/hard was it to "go" after your c-section?

When you finally were able to get up and go to the bathroom on your own (yay for cath removal!!), how did it go?

It wasn't difficult or even burn like I expected after the cath, except that I did not feel the urge to go for a few weeks. I just went and peed every couple of hours because I knew I should, not because I felt it. Now BMs were different. Prebaby I was a once every 2-3 days type so I didn't go at the hospital and the nurses were all riled up about that. They were trying to give me all sorts of things to make me go and make me pass gas. I was so embarrassed and aggravated.

I've had a number of UTI's, and they've made me acutely aware of my bladder and urethra. I do not struggle to urinate after having had a catheter. For the other side, I had to strike a balance in the stool softeners. None and I couldn't go; twice a day and I had diarrhea.

For me, I had a REALLY hard time being able to pee! It took a long time before I finally was able to go. I was very surprised by that! I was actually able to "poo" before I was able to pee. And I was scared to death to "poo"! LOL My doc automatically gave me stool softeners, but I did not want to strain at all to go. (And I dealt with the worst, most painful constipation ever during my last pregnancy.)

One of my friends said she was hit with diarrhea right after her c-section (likely a side-effect from the meds she was on), and I couldn't imagine that! Oh, gah, how horrible to barely be able to get up on your own anyway, but have to "rush" to the restroom every little bit in that kind of pain too! Would be horrible!!
