Beats me. I developed HELLP & couldn't be pregnant for as much as one more day. I think induction was not considered due to the time-frame. (Wait too long, and the baby develops the same thing and can't be cured).

Why HELLP? A dozen possibilities and everyone who submits one is certain. The doctor said "It just happens sometimes". The midwife said, "It's something that often happens with first pregnancies, but not subsequent". The friends said it was stress (short story -- I had fewer relatives after the birth than a week before, totally unexpected. ) Various internet sources said my diet was wrong (but some differed whether it was too much protein or too little). Although I did have a subsequent pregnancy, the only thing the easy, healthy, VBAC could prove was that it wasn't my age, and it wasn't too much protein in my diet.

First time, cord prolapse. Second time, pre-e at 35w. They wanted to induce me, but since I was a VBAC candidate they had limited options and I was a really bad candidate for an induction. My Bishop's score was two, only because my son was vertex. Otherwise I was closed tight and long, and confined to the bed because of the mag.

My answer is fairly simple--fear!

I was too afraid to go through another horrible vaginal delivery like the ones I had been through already. I felt like I knew what I was going to get if I went that route, so I had to try my only other option and pray for a better outcome. I actually was lucky enough to get that too, but I know I took a huge gamble in the process.
