What to do at hospital?

Probably another silly question from me, but DH and I were just talking about this and we can't seem to picture how this works: so we go in for our scheduled c-section, hopefully in the morning, and the rest of the day is spent recovering and bonding with our baby. Our hospital favors rooming in, which is great, but what happens during days 2-4 when he's sleeping?

I guess my question for the BTDTs here is how did you spend your time in the hospital after your c-section? Gosh, this sounds horrible-- of course, we're going to be staring at our son with absolute shock and joy most of the time, and working on establishing BF'ing, and learning how to change diapers and all that fun stuff, but should we plan on bringing cards or books to pass the time as well? I really don't love the idea of watching TV with a newborn, but if I'm chained to a hospital bed for a while, I know I'm going to get restless, and I just have no idea what it's like to spend so much time in the hospital.

Please feel free to let me know if this is the most ridiculous question ever ;0)

You know I don't think its silly at all either. I got TV in my room and just relaxed and slept and visited with family and friends who came for visits. You know the time really did fly by for me and before I knew it we were heading home.

Take it easy and rest would be the thing I recommend the most.

It's not a silly question.

The truth is that it goes fast. You spend a lot of time staring at your baby, learning to breast feed, begging the doctor to let you eat, etc. With that said, I was totally ready to go home -- I had to convince my doc that I was ready to go home after 2 nights.

Bringing "stuff" (cards, books, etc.) can't hurt - but I think you'll be surprised at how quickly the time will go!

I recommend SLEEPING...get as much as you can, because once you get home it's a whole different ball game...

Birth annoucements!! That's brilliant, why didn't I think of that? I can address and stamp envelopes and get all that out of the way-- great idea!

Wow, you left early? I've been wondering if I'll be dying to get out of there after a couple of nights, too, but we'll probably stay the maximum time just to have the extra help-- I'm worried about getting BF'ing established without the lactation consultant down the hall. I'm sure you're right, though-- the time will go by more quickly than we realize!

LOL, get as much sleep as possible? Yep, sounds like a good idea, since I know you're right-- that won't really be possible once we go home!

While I was in the hospital I filled out the baby books I had (which were 2 of them-1 for my pregnancy and the "big day" and the other was for the baby). I did some scrap booking, filled out birth announcements, took walks and watched a little bit of t.v. I came in on Thursday morning and went home on Sunday morning. So I really only had
