POP! GUSHHHHHHHHHH! "My water just broke." "Are you sure?"
My husband will never live down his response to my water breaking. We were all in denial about me being in labour at 37 weeks because we had planned for a baby arriving 1-2 weeks late. Also, a few years after my son's birth, when my midwife group had a 20th anniversary celebration, the midwife who helped birth him said "I was serious when I declared I would never again tell a woman to get into that position until after I had both gloves on." I was leaning back on my husband and the midwife told me to plant my heels, and lift my hips because it would help the posterior baby come out easier. That turned out to be the understatement of the decade, LOL!
