Is anyone here a Doula?

Re-posted from my EC.

I need some advice.. Pretty please? :-)

I just re-enrolled in nursing school to finish my BSN (with hopes to go on to get my masters in midwifery).

But I want to follow a more traditional CPM feel. And ultimately work alongside CPMs, yet offer the insurance break (for the families) that comes with being a CNM.
I would like to get the ball rolling on my doula certification prior to March, but I am not sure which organization to obtain my certification through.

The majority of the Doulas in my area are DONA. (It seems to be the more popular organization here.)

Should I stick to what's more prevalent in the area?
Any thoughts on other organizations?
Which did you choose, and how do you like it?
:-)

Thanks in advance!,

I have mixed feelings about DONA.

"Not possible?" The only thing that has teeth would be if they said they wouldn't certify you if you did that. Is that the situation? A possible long-term solution would be to get credentials, get a track record and clients willing to be references, and then quit (possibly en-mass with other doulas who feel the same way as you.

Note -- I'm an engineer, and not looking to change careers. It just helps to lay out all the options (but only tell the boss the ones that are acceptable to you).

No I`m not a Doula but I think I`m going to save up to become one.
