Here's a link to a site with pictures of the new addition.....(warning - male anatomy IS visible in one shot!)
I'll post a birth story later on. It's hard to believe that he's 64 hours old already. Nursing like a champ and sleeping a reasonable amount - just more during the daytime than night!
But, for those who can't wait for some details, here's snipit:
In a nutshell - contractions started at around 4:30 pm or so, but were really irregular. Called midwife at 6 p.m. and she said the spacing could indicate posterior positioning and to go do knees to chest for 45 mintues and then immediately roll to my left side and stay there for 15 minutes. Think that did the trick since they got closer together and more regular in pattern (plus longer). Called her again and said I'd feel better if she came now (takes about 30 mintues to get from her house). By the time she came I was thinking DRUGS PLEASE - and thought of telling her to not bother unpacking 'cause I just couldn't take it. But, I only had that in my head. Definintely was hitting transition. The water actually had the contractions intensify, so things sped along. Baby born at 10:23 p.m. - about an hour after she got there. She called her assistant about 20 minutes before he was born - since I hadn't vocalized my desire for pain relief she didn't realize I was into transition already.
Two big suprises for me: (1) that getting into the water really sped things up and (2) that you could have in the same contraction the sensation of dilating which switched to the incredible urge to push like mad!
Laura - who just put someone down 2 minutes ago and he's fussing to be held again!
