I'd be ok with mild induction (foley cathetar) at 41 1/2 weeks. I might even be ok with mild pitocin at 42 weeks. But that's me, I know some who are totally against it and others who have no concerns about induction at 38 weeks.

41 1/2 weeks is the average gestational time, though, so I wouldn't do anything before then except the usual sex ect. My midwife wasn't comfortable with me having 5W but I had 4 previous cesareans. You might consider starting 5W at 38 weeks. Nipple stim is great but takes a lot of work (I really think it has to be intimate and not just a thing) and lets face it, if your body and baby aren't ready nothing is going to work.

Hi Mindy!

How accurate is your edd? Are we going on a LMP (28-day calendar), fertility charting, early u/s, etc? That would have a big change in what dates I'd use, kwim?

True the other methods can be unreliable, but they usually only work if baby is TRULY ready to come out. A lot of women try those methods even before 40w, kwim? If baby is ready to come, most of those methods would work. Remember if you use DTD to be sure that you reach O and keep your hips elevated for at least 30 minutes after DH is 'finished' to get that semen to the cervix.

I'd use the foley catheter, but probably not until close to 42 weeks based on a VERY good edd. I was worried about this too as I was induced with #1 at 41w1d, but that was a bad edd. I was 3 days 'overdue' with my vbac baby

Dur. I cannot believe I didn't remember that. Have you considered doing daily or bi-weekly BPPs if you hit 41w or anything?

Bio-Physical Profile...it's when they hook you up for a while and check baby's practice breathing, movements, and some other stuff. It will tell everyone that baby is usually okay or that it might be time to move things along. Hannah flunked hers (lol), so we did the induction. I hadn't been feeling much movement and felt that something was just not quite right.

38.8w? Nice!! Do keep us posted!!

38.8 weeks? Is that from conception or last normal period (LNMP)? If the former, I'd really like to see source material, because I usually hear 41 week & a day. (Also is that data corrected for conditions that cause prematurity?)

I found the 38.8 weeks on about three IVF sites.

I haven't been induced after my c/s, but I wanted to respond to your "how far past due is too far" question.
