I had an absolutely amazing meeting with the leader of my local ICAN chapter (there are only 2 in the UK, one of which is in my little bitty town). She is amazing! She had 3 c/sections and then disocvered she could attempt a VBA3C, which was successful. She gave me loads of advice, lent me a couple of books (which are awesome - Child Birth Without Fear and Ina May's Guide to childbirth - such good eads, let me tell ya!)
Oh, she also told me which of the local hospitals (the closest is 20 miles away, with the furtherst 'local' one being 45 miles) would be the best at supporting me with my VBAC. The next closest hospital (21 miles), where she had her VBA3C, is incredily supportive and even let you use the birthing pool!!!! I so want to use that for labour.
During our course of conversation, I mentioned that DH is not thrilled with the idea of labour and doesn't really want to be there (interestingly enough, she said that about 50% of the birth's she's attended, the DH's often slow down the labour, cuz they're stressing their wives out). I already knew that she's a doula, but there's no way we can afford her £450 fee. Then she told me about the UK Doula Hardship Fund, to which I applied this morning. She does at least one labour a year through this program, sometimes two and she's looking for one to do this year! I told DH about the fund and the look of relief on his face was priceless!
I'll keep praying that everything seems to be moving along to help me get the VBAC that I desperately desire (I'm talking deepest, most intimiate desire of my heart). I just can't do another c/section, it was that horrible for me.
Anyway, there's my absolutely, wonderful Rave and even more wonderful that DH is incredibly supportive of it!
