Hello ALL!

I have enjoyed reading all of your stories as part of my research on VBACS.

Well, I had a c-section for my first, and a VBAC for my second. I can't say I know much personally about labor problems (my c-section was for majorly bad pre-eclampsia) but there is a distinct possibility that getting the pain medications & being on your back was at least a contributing factor. I did, in fact, push for 2 1/2 hours on my VBAC, but I hadn't been in hard labor that long, so it wasn't as if I were tired out. It was REALLY worth it. I tell people that all the compliments I received on my first child were "pretty" and "sweet" and "precious". On the second child there was only one comment -- "ALERT!"

I didn't really find it that hard to go without medication. Some of the contractions were pretty riveting, but I believe in making noise -- it might have sounded scary to an outsider, but it was like pushing back against the pain without tensing up & making it worse. I also had learned enough about childbirth (Bradley class) that I really wasn't afraid of anything counting as "normal" and I appreciated how much variation, especially in the timing and amount of pain, was perfectly normal.
