First off, if you lived in the Netherlands (where they have far better outcomes for mothers and babies than the US, but then again so do 40-some-odd other countries including Cuba!) no one would be telling you you were overdue until after 42 weeks, because normal human gestation ranges to 42 weeks, not just 40 as they say here. "What a difference an ocean makes" is sad but true.

I highly recomend Henci Goer's website or her book "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" and her article "Obstetric Myths Versus Research Realities".

You might also check out the funny and/or scary (depending) website "My OB said WHAT?!" to see how many whoppers you may have already heard.

But best yet, check out because they are women who had VBAC after 2 and sometimes more cesareans, women who are lawyers, nurses, docs, and researchers who truly understand and support VBAC, women who have faced every possible obstacle and can tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly and what to watch out for so you don't have to learn the way they did.

Best of wishes, and you are right to be trying to find out everything you can now. They don't tell you that each cesarean adds risk to future pregnancies, by dramatically increasing the risk and likelihood of serious complications like placenta abruptia, placenta accretia, placenta previa, etc etc etc. and if you had been seeking a VBAC in another decade, or now in a different country, you wouldn't be facing such opposition. It's not right.
