VBAC with Baby #2?

I am new here.

We had a planed C Section with our DS because he was a trans breech. I had pre term labor at 30 weeks and while they were able to stop him until 39 the whole experience left DH and I pretty shaken up so when the option came to "try" to turn him we felt he was breech the whole pregnancy for a reason and as long as he was ok we would leave him that way and have a c section.

I am currently 13 weeks with what should be earth baby #2 and today my OB asked what my thoughts were on VBAC or another c section...

Gosh I just don't know. I am not sure. I realize there are more risks with a VBAC

Hi Ali,

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the board!

I had two vaginal births before I had a c/s due to placenta previa. My c/s recovery was longer and more painful than my vaginal births. When I got pregnant after my c/s baby, I knew that I wanted to vbac b/c I wanted a quicker recovery and vbacs are normally safer than repeat c/s, barring medical reasons.

It's great that your dr is offering you an opportunity to vbac. You may want to talk to your dr and get his opinion. Also, we have a lot of research information on this site that will help you make your decision.

Please let us know if we can answer any questions for you.

Also, I hope you have an easy pregnancy. I had a scary pg with my c/s baby b/c of the placenta problems, and I was so relieved to have a nice, normal, more relaxed pregnancy with my vbac baby.

Hi,

I had my first baby c/s for failure to progress, then the next two were VBACs.

Thanks for the great info Elaine!
My Dr is wonderful! With DS we saw the head OB here but she left after we had him to take one the same OB / teaching job back in Chicago. We saw several during my ectoipc because my Dr was on maternity leave.
Ehen we talked all of the Dr's on her team are able to cover VBAC & a standard they set here is the facility must have anastisia 24 hrs a day (which they do) we have the best hospital in the state here & people from all over the country come for treatment.
She was happy to chat & willing to do whatever I wanted. Her only concern was how many children I wanted. Maybe just 1 more & that's a MAYBE because I'm not sure I can ride the ttc roller coaster again with all the problems we have had.
So since I don't want but maybe 1 more she said she be fine with whatever choice I made.
Lots to think about. But I'm happy my c section was very easy so I don't have a horror story like some do :)
