We had an horrific bus-train accident, very near here.  The accident happened as the train was slowing down and was coming to the station near here.

It is the station we use when we take the train; the train was one DD frequently used when she was away at university. Have to admit, never liked that train crossing. It is across a two lane busy road with a bus transit way.

Fortunately, no close family members were involved in the accident. I am waiting to hear if I knew anyone on the bus (the bus orginated from an area several friends and acquantances live).

Nora, dosen't one of your kids live here? I hope not in Barhaven.

I heard about it too.  Very sad.  And it's the second big train accident this summer, in Canada.  I truly hope no one you know was involved.  But even if they were not, I know it will be a LONG time before you can go near the place, and not have horrible memories.  My prayers go out to those involved.

She lives near Carling Place mall-but yes, that is the station I go to when I go to visit on VIA. I've been watching & listening to the news-one other transit driver said it was a horrid crossing & he avoided that particular bus when he could-this morning a different OC driver said that the crossing & that bus were fine. I wonder what the truth is? My heart goes out to the families of all those injured & those who died. This morning on CBC radio the poor wife of the bus driver was on-she is truly upset.

Nice area near Carlingwood Mall.

The kids told me that the commute yesterday was not bad. The bus drivers were, as expected, subdued but the buses were not backed up because of the closure of transit way at the accident site.

Personnally,I never liked that crossing. I find it too "open". The trains cross at an angle; across at two lane highway and  the dedicated bus lanes.. But it is the easiest and fastest way to get to the station. Fortunately, the train was going very slow. They do at all the crossings here and especially at that one since the train was coming into the Station. It could have been worse.

I feel for the familes; very sad.
