Today is our wedding anniversary. 33 YEARS!! However, I'm spending the entire day typing my husband's lesson plans, class group projects & other stuff to appease the consultants and supervisors of my husband's Math Department at his high school. Mind you I also need to study my real estate stuff since I'll be taking exams in June. Well, not this weekend. Instead it's let's focus on my husband's teaching situation since he's being observed and his school is under the watch of New York City Board of Education. So my real estate has to wait because my husband's job is at stake. This is all a case of the high school is not graduating enough students & certainly not passing enough kids on state exams, so the administrators are trying everything in their power to get the Board of Education off their back. Which means any teacher (incl. my husband) that hasn't performed well enough is being watched. Also the list came out of teachers being laid off & of course my husband has tenure, so he is excluded. Meaning, the school wants to get rid of him but their hands are tied. So they have to get rid of the new teachers who are not permanent.
The irony in this is I wouldn't mind helping my husband if he taught English or History since those were my favorite subjects. But algebra, geometry & trig?? - dealing with all those fractions, angles and terminology?? I HATE IT! I know - I've been doing this for years - but the pressure is on him more than in the past. Can't wait for him to retire. How many days till June 2014??
