Today is a "Boat Drinks" day...

8F with a -10 wind chill.  It is also a "play EVERY Jimmy Buffett song there is" day.  Which I have been doing, turning Bree into a Parakeet.

Boat drinks
By: jimmy buffett
Boat drinks
Boys in the band ordered boat drinks
Visitors scored on the home rink
Everything seems to be wrong

Lately, newspaper mentioned cheap air fare
I gotta to fly to Saint somewhere
I'm close to bodily harm

Twenty degrees and the hockey games on
Nobody cares they are way too far gone
Screamin boat drinks, something to keep em all warm

This mornin', I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I got cabin fever
Somebody sound the alarm

I'd like to go where the pace of life's slow
Could you beam me somewhere, Mr. scott?
Any ol place here on earth or in space
You pick the century and I'll pick the spot

Oh I know, (I know)
I should be leaving this climate
I got a verse but can't rhyme it
I gotta go where it's warm

Boat drinks
Waitress I need two more boat drinks
Then I'm headin' south 'fore my dream shrinks

I gotta go where it's warm (I gotta go where it's warm)
I gotta go where it's warm (I gotta go where it's warm)
I gotta go where it's warm!

I gotta go where there ain't any snow
Where there ain't any blow
Cause my fin sinks so low
I gotta go where it's warm

Grrr... I lost my first reply to this post as iVillage said "I wasn't authorized to post"  - then I couldn't get back to my post to try again.  Anyway just wanted to say I hear you, Sabr.  I don't know Jimmy Buffet's music, but since you posted the lyrics to that song, I hear ya!

It's really frigid here too.  Not that this is a contest of comparisons...just to mention the numbers.... it will be -21 C. (-5.8 F.) tomorrow with a wind chill of -29 C. (-20 F), then on Saturday it's worse!  It will be a -25 C. (-13 F) with a wind chill of -33 C. (-27 F).  It is only marginally 'warmer" on Sunday...ha!  I can stand having's the norm for us here in winter, and we  have plenty of it and it isn't melting with these temperatures,  but I just hate these super frigid temperatures.

Hope you will be warming up there soon and feeling less crazy/house-bound?

Here's hoping I get to post this time around!

Yeah-me too-"Gotta go where it's warm". We are in the midst of another Polar Vortex, with temps going down to -20C or lower, & the wind chill making it feel colder. But Health Units through Southern Ontario are issuing warnings to get Homeless people into shelters tonight & I'm thinking that makes my grumbling about the long winter & waiting for Spring to list & sell my house seem petty. At least I Have a house, even if I want to go to a different one, in a different part of the province! (It certainly won't be warmer there!)

What amazed me today was how much the snow was blowing across the highway-I'm not sure when they quit using snow fences along farmers' fields-but the snow was just drifting along the highway as it passed by the open fields. Hopefully the wind will die down tomorrow-if not, the groceries will wait another day!

Not too bad today (rain) but we're to get 3-6" of sheet ice Sunday so that'll be our boat drinks day!  Back to single digits overnight then too - ugh.  Bringing my work laptop home today just in case...

Nope, no interest in going someplace "warm". I would rather stay here. I doubt that when DH retires we will ever be snowbirds.

Today it is beautiful and glorious day here-bright sun, everything covered with snow (we had a short snow storm last night) and 1F, perfect day for a long walk. After lunch, I am going to put on my coat, hat, boots and,of course, sunglasses, and go for a long walk in the neighborhood.

Ladies, I'm extending my sympathy to you. This winter just doesn't want to let go. I keep an eye on the NYC weather and see that they're calling for another dump of snow on Monday. But before it gets there it will want to torture the rest of you!

Don't come here today for your getaway. While its not cold (its 63F) its very windy (gusts to 30mph in my neighborhood) and rainy. People here do not seem to know how to drive in the rain, which is odd because so many people here are originally from someplace with wet/icy weather. Every time it rains there are lots of crashes because people don't slow down or change their driving to reflect the conditions. Given the amount of rain, downed branches, etc expected with this storm they have advised people to stay off the roads if possible. So I'm doing my part and staying home today!

Ha!  Fun lyrics to share, Sabr.

DH & I agreed we're just going to just enjoy Sat and when the snow comes on Sun night, build a fire and keep it going til Tue.  He's taking DS skiing tomorrow, I'm going to go to the art museum.  I spent the last two weekends doing nothing but work, housework, and chores, and I need to get out and see something soul-filling.

OMG - our temperature today or so far this morning is -35 C. ( -31 F.) but with the wind chill it will be like -44 or so!  (-47 F.).  It won't be much higher today...  I think about -25 C. (but again with wind chill factored in - it feels like -32 C).  The sun is shining briliantly but it's not making much difference - well, maybe a tad but it's hard to compete with such low temperatures.  The weather will get increasingly less cold in the next few days but not by a great amount until Wednesday.  Lord, I really hope this is the last of the really really frigid temperatures for this winter!

And still we have to go out to the store today to get a few groceries and some bird seed.   My poor birdies have none left in the bird feeder!
