DD arrives in Shelby, Montana around 5 p.m. but a friend of hers is to be driving down that way to pick her up and to drive her home.

What great news, Shirley! It sounds like Sunday will be an interesting dinner. Does Patrick normally bring home the girlfriends or is this something special too.

I don't believe that it's not that they don't want to be with us, it's just that they take us for granted knowing we will always be there so what's the rush to spend time with us. It's the friends that they think about first. I'm hope she at least spends sometime with you giving you a bit of an update on what she thinks her future will involve. For example, if she is planning on coming home for a short while to live while she finds a job & a new place to live.

I found that at Xmas when James came home, his focus was on catching up with his friends. He had no choice but to spend time with us when we went away but he got quite grumpy by the 5th day. When he was coming home this summer, I made it clear that I expected 1:1 time when he got home & before he left. We had a family dinner when he arrived. Then he & I spent an afternoon/lunch together. Fast forward (& it did go by fast), we did the same thing in reverse but it was dinner & an evening for the 2 of us. This worked well. He knew my expectations up front & I was fine with his coming & going the rest of the time.

Relax tonight, save any tough discussions for another time and just enjoy having Christine back home again. Dee

Just moments after I typed that post above, and left the computer, we got a phone call from Christine who informed us that her friend who was to pick her up could not do that - due to his car being broken into (literally, a smashed window) and while

Oh, I guess I forgot to answer your question, Dee, about Patrick.

So glad that Christine is home safe & sound, it's too bad about the speeding ticket. But thankfully you didn't have to have your car towed. I have always wondered about being towed. I can't imagine they just leave you in the middle of no where but have no desire to find out. I can see how in the excitement of listening to Christine that Ray would slide slightly over the speed limit. I consider 119 within the speed limit when the signs say 100 km.

I'm so glad Christine stayed with you. She may find that she is tired for a couple of days & since she will be back for Sunday dinner, your place is likely a good place to crash except for Saturday night which I expect she wants to go catch up with her friends.
