Well she made it back across the pond! I'll bet she's glad to back on the ground and not having to take a flight again anytime soon. I wonder if part of the flight was bumpy due to the unsettled weather from the storm Lee?

I don't have any phobias about flying but on our return from Spain I was getting kind of anxious--the flight seemed like it would never end, I was so physically and mentally tired of being in a sardine can catapulting through the sky, and then we hit a lot of turbulence and I got quite airsick--we landed literally 30 seconds before I would have needed the barf bag. It took me hours to recover. (I've decided that next time we travel to Europe I will get some motion sickness patches!) So if Christine was feeling like I was, on top of her phobia, she would have been in a sorry state indeed.

Does she have about another week before she will arrive back in Calgary? Is her friend staying in Nova Scotia, or traveling with Chris, or just flying on to Calgary? Will Christine be returning to her former residence when she arrives, or staying with you for a while? I'll bet that you'll be glad to set eyes on her again!

Glad the flight is over. It's a long way. My worst flight was back from New York as the air conditioning wouldn't go off and was directly on me. I have a phobia of cold air on my face as I once had Bell's Palsy, where half your face doesn't work, and that was caused by sleeping next to a fan.

I hope she has some good memories which aren't overshadowed by the flight.

Apparently the flight over was pretty bumpy, so she told my Dh on the phone the other day.

Traveling by train is the easiest form of travel IMO. It's very relaxing, you can get up and move around. To me it's like being in your living room on wheels. Anyhow, I'm so glad the flying part of Christine's trip is over. This has been quite the adventure for her. It will be interesting for you to see how it has changed her.

We are getting ready for our last evening with James until Dec. His flight leaves for Victoria early tomorrow morning so looking forward to family time tonight.

I wasn't here this afternoon when Ray got a phone call from Christine (or was it a text?) where Christine said that she was feeling a tiny bit panicky about being in the train...yikes!

I hope that Christine does find someone to help take her mind off the train. I find that with the windows on both sides, being on the ground & being able to walk around makes it more relaxing. But everyone is different. Great news on the weight loss, she must be pleased. I remember those old days when we could lose weight quickly!

Had a great evening with James & actually only 1 tear has been shed. I know I was so unhappy when he decided to quit his job & return to Victoria. I'm not now that I have seen the difference in him from when he 1st returned, then over the summer and then again in the last wk. He was so relaxed & happy when he got here then he became grumpy & unhappy over the summer but this changed again in the last week. He is known for being miserable to be around the week before he goes anywhere or starts a new job. Anything that changes his current environment tends to make him grumpy. This last week he has been so happy, relaxed & content. It's the right move for him.

James asked me last night how I felt about his leaving. First time he has asked and I could honestly say that I was very happy for him. All I wanted is his happiness and that I only wished it was a little closer than a 4 hr plane trip.

Hi Shirley,

Where is Christine these day? Still in Montreal or making her way back home?

Christine is presently in Toronto. Last Friday her aunt who lives in Mississauga picked her up from the bus station (she took a bus from Montreal) and they spent Friday evening and Saturday together.

How long does it take to drive from Calgary to Shelby, Montana? Is the border crossing quick and easy?

This is coming up quite soon. Its been, what, almost 4 months since you've seen her? I'm guessing that you're planning a welcome home dinner for this weekend for the family?
