DD has a new job

DD, Christine, has taken on a new job in a restaurant/bar (maybe more a bar than a restaurant, but I've not been there to really know).  She tired of her job in another bar.... not good enough hours, no pay raises and she's been working there for years.  She began to work one evening a week at this other bar a while ago - and they liked her enough to offer her a full-time job there as bartender...or at least as assistant bartender, since she's still learning to mix allsorts of drinks which they have been teaching her since she began working there.  Her other bar job consisted of some bartending, but that bar didn't serve fancy cocktails and the mixed drinks were simple ones (liquor and mixer) or beer.

She is so much happier at this new job.  And she's making more money - something she certainly could use more of.  It's so nice to see her happier.

Well, good for her.  I hope the job sticks, and that she makes it to full bartender.  Bartenders can make good money, if they are very personable.

grr...I know that I replied to this earlier but its not here, I wonder if it will show up later?

Anyway, that's good that she now has a job that she likes---really helps with the mood and stress level. As already mentioned, bartenders can make good tips. And nice that they are willing to train her on the job. My dd took a bartending course when she was 21, I don't know what she paid but think it was at least a couple hundred dollars.

How many hours is "full time"?

I know she normally has two days off a week and otherwise I think she works an 8 hour shift, though I am not 100% sure if it is every day that it is 8 hours.  I'll have to ask  her when I see her, which is supposed to be this Sunday when she comes for dinner, as she said she would.  It's been quite a while since she's been here for supper and I'm looking forward to seeing her and hearing more about her new job.

Hope you got all caught up at dinner with Christine. Great news that she is happier at her new job. Bartending is a good skill to have. All 3 of mine took a course but DS1 only worked a few times & found out it wasn't his thing. The others have used it and SIL also has done his share of bartending over the yrs. It's handy when we do events that require a liquor license as my kids, sil & dil all have their smart service & keep it current. Dee
