DD2 needs surgury

DD3 has had a bad history of strep. This year it has been the worse, I think she got it 3 times in the first few weeks of school.
She made an appointment with an ENT to check into getting her tonsils out, something that had been recommended to her in the past.
Found out she has a deciated septum. She will be scheduled for surgury to fix and and he will also remove her tonsils. Do not know when yet. Too late to schedule if over Christmas break. She was hoping for spring break but the doctor takes that week off to spend with his kids. So she is going to try to schedule it the Thursday or Friday before springs break.
Aparently born with it and according to her doctor it does run in families. He said that she probably she has a parent or sibling with the same isssue. Both DH and DD3 have a lot of sinus, strep issues so it is possible they have the same issue.
She has also always had some sleep issues which the doctor said are another symptom.
Since she has to wait several months for the tonsil/septum surgeries, she might want to jump on the sleep issues now. Resolving the sleep problems (sleep apnea?) can help her overall health including her immune system.
It seems to me-no matter how old they get, your kids are always your kids. And the worry over any pending surgery is always there. Add my wishes for a quick & easy recovery to those of all others.

So sorry to hear about the pending surgery. It's never easy to have to deal with this at any age but it's more difficult when you have to juggle work & health. My DS2 had the septoplasty surgery a few yrs ago & it went well with minimal recovery time required but I have heard that having your tonsils out as an adult isn't easy. My DS2 broke his nose at 18 mths which resulted in the need for surgery in his early 20s. He had hoped it would include fixing the bump but didn't. Any idea how your DD ended up with the deviated septum?
