Found out tonight that DD1 has breast cancer.  Stage 2.   Will find out more information at her Dr. appointment on Mon. All we know at this time is she will be going through chemo.

OMG, 'nester...that is shocking news.  How old is she? And of course she is way younger than one would expect to have breast cancer, no?  Did she discover a lump, or how was it discovered?  I don't know much about stages of cancer other than #4 is the worst, but hopefully this version your DD  has can be dealt with quickly and successfully.  It is good she is seeing her doctor on Monday.  Who gave her the diagnosis?

 She is 29.

She discovered the lump. Do not know the exact details on the timing of the appointments.  Her first appointment was Tuesday, her doctor set her up for a mammogram.  With the results of the mammogram she needed a biospy. She callled to make the appoinment for one and was told the nest opening was 10 days away.  When her doctor found out that he made a call and got her in I think the next day.  She got the results yeasterday atternoon.  So from Tues to get it get checked out to Friday knowing she has cancer.

The doctor said that she would need chemo. From the little I have read online about it is a common procedure for Stage 2 is to use chemo to shrink the tumor so small enough that can be removed with a lumpectomy.

"Stage 2 indicates a slightly more advanced form of breast cancer. At this stage, the cancer cells have spread beyond the original location and into the surrounding breast tissue, and the tumor is larger than in stage 1 disease. However, stage 2 means the cancer has not spread to a distant part of the body."
