DD2 had a get togther at her house.  We met her boyfriend's parents.  Technically he is his step-father but his bio dad died when he was young so he raised him.    They are really nice,  We played board games and had a lot of laughs.

Also met his kids they are 8 and 3, both boys.  The older is very outgoing and joined us in a board game.  The younger more reserved so not comfortable in a large group with strangers, plus just getting over strep  so after we ate he went into DD2's bedroom and watched Netflix.

After we played the first game,  DH and his older brother joined him.  I think DH is getting his grandpa fix.

That sounds like fun.  Also seems like the kids are accepting your dd (and you guys) and that is a VERY good thing.  Good for you all.  Have they been dating long enough for you to incorporate his kids in your Christmas gifting?

I am  not sure, kids of SO is all new to me.   I do plan on havng something here for them if I do happen to see them over the holidays.  Also a gift  I have thought about for their father is a gift card for a movie theater whcih he would most likely use with them.

Our rule of thumb for SO's was $10 after the first year, $20-25 after the second year, & $50-100 after we knew they were permanent.  For SO's kids, I would wait till the couple was permanent, then treat them like any blood grandchild.

Edited to add: I always give gift certificates, either to a store my dds SWEAR the guy shops at, a restaurant they like, or an Amazon gift card.

Editing is impossible. Posting from my mobile is impossible, just can't take it anymore some days. ANYWAY... I have always given SO's gift cards, from stores dds SWEAR they shop at, restaurants they like, or Amazon gift cards.
