Now that so many people have too much stuff, I find it's getting harder to buy gifts. This year I decided to try a couple of pre-packaged gifts for the holidays. I ordered a chocolate, cheese, nuts, crackers, etc.

We have given and recieved the fruit and cheese etc box or baskets in the past. There was (maybe still is) a company here in the U.S. called Harry & David that was famous for their Tower of Treats which was boxes in graduated sizes, each containing a different "treat" from pears and/or apples at the bottom, to nuts and little candies at the top. The fruit was always of exceptional quality, with a price tag to match...which may have been why they got into financial trouble--they were pricey gifts. But they were always appreciated.

DH has an uncle in Arizona that always sends us money in the fall and at Christmas for our son's educational costs. So we always send him candy. We never hear anything back, but we send from 2 very nice chocolatiers so I'm sure it works out.

Harry and David are still around; in fact you can even buy some of their dips and such at local grocery stores now. We got one of those towers a few years back when our group launched a big project on time at work; each person on the team got one. It was lovely. In fact, dh and ds turned the biggest box bottom into a platform for the cats and the one still spends a lot of time in it daily! LOL
