Tears of Joy!!

This seems to be the best place to add my teary feelings right now but mine are of absolute joy. My DS2 was a troubled teen, there were nights when I never knew if he would come home or if he would be found dead somewhere. He was always the smallest in his class & this drove him to try everything including drugs & alcohol. He had to prove he was more daring than everyone so took many chances with his life. For some reason that even he can't explain today, most of his anger was directed at me & he was determined to hurt me as much as possible. We made it through those years but rarely discuss them as he is angry with himself for his choices. I have long forgiven him & try to encourage him to do the same as he is an amazing young man today.

His wedding day is fast approaching & he told me today that he had narrowed it down to 3 choices for the mother/son song - they are You're still the one - Shania Twain, Wind beneath my wings - Bette Midler & one unknown to me, A Mother's love - Jim Brickman. He decided on the last one & sent me the lyrics. Always knew the pain & fear of those teen years was worth it, just didn't realize how much they meant to him too. Dee

A Mother's Love (featuring Mark Masri) by Jim Brickman

Thank you for watching over me All of the sleepless nights you lay awake Thank you for knowing when to hold me close when to let me go Thank you for every stepping stone And for the path that always leads me home I thank you for the time you took to see the heart inside of me You gave me the roots to start this life and then you gave me wings to fly and I learned to dream because you believed in me There's no power like it on this earth No treasure equal to its worth The gift of a mother's love Thank you for every sunlit day That filled the corners of my memory Thank you for every selfless unsung deed I know you did for me Thank you for giving me the choice To search my soul till I could find my voice And I thank you for teaching me To be strong enough to bend You gave me the roots to start this life And then you gave me wings to fly And I learned to dream Because you believed in me There's no power like it on this earth No treasure equal to its worth The gift of a mother's love I thank God for a mother's love

Dee, how touching and sweet that he chose that song and will tell the world (or the guests at the wedding anyway) how he feels about his mom. I doubt there will be a dry eye in the room when you and he dance to that song. Looks like you did an outstanding job of raising him!

Oh, how great for you that you have such a good relationship with your son!  All are great songs.  When my oldest son got married they let me pick the song and I picked "t carter's, a mother's song" It is awesome also. I cried big, big tears when we danced!  My second son is getting married in Dec.  My relationship with him is not as close, but I'm still overjoyed he is getting married, and his fiance' is a peach, we love her!  Don't know what song we'll dance to, or if they're picking it or whatever, I'll find out!
