How many casting calls

I'm curious since we r just getting started in this and have been on 2 casting calls without getting callbacks or bookings. How long did it take most of you to get the first "job". How many times do you make the hour long drive before you say forget this!? I don't want to sound too negative but I just want to be realistic. I think I'm more bummed then my DD but just not sure what to do, how long to wait, how many CC to drive to before giving it a break. Any advice?

OH THE SEASON IS JUST GETTING STARTED. i AM SURE YOUR DD WILL BOOK, IF SHE WOULD NOT AGENCIES WOULD NOT BOTHER REPRESENTING, USE IT AS AN OUTING NOT AS A CC, THERE ARE MANY THINGS DO AFTER A CC, AND OF COURSE YOUR BUMMED SHE IS YOUR DD i THINK EVERY PARENT KIND OF WANTS OT JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THIER CHILD, BUT IT MIGHT BECOME PROBLEMATIC OF YOUR CHILD WANTS IT MORE THAN YOU. BEST OF LUCK

There's a lot of variation in how quickly and how often kids book, and how many casting calls/auditions they receive.

I know exactly how you feel! I'm driving two hours to attend a casting. My DD's first job was three months after we started. Every single time my husband and I want to give up then we receive a call that she booked a job or another casting to attend. Just be patient your DD will book a job :)

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. I like the idea of just making it a day. A little difficult with having other kids, but I'm gonna try that. It's a little heart breaking cause she's old enough to understand and that's what I'm not sure about. I wish she was younger n didnt know whether she got it or not! I guess I just wanted to get an idea of how long, how many cc it takes but guess that varies tremendously. Thanks again, I do love hearing what is going on with everyone. I hope one day to be able to say, "we booked xyz!!!"

If you're just starting, it takes a while to get booked b/c your DD doesn't have anything on her resume.

We have done this for 2 years and my ds last year worked a fair amount and my dd booked only 1 job which was quite discouraging for her.

I read it too, thanks for the link. "bump" is a post on a thread to bring it back up on top. You know, when u make a comment then the thread goes back to top. Basically you have nothing to say but want it on top again....for whatever reason. Oh, and to answer ur other question ... My DD is 6. I thought a good age.
