I saw this on another board, and kind of an offshoot of yesterday's question. Talking about words of wisdom your mother provided. Everyone else has sage advice that their mother passed down. My mother is atypical. So for a little humour I thought I will reference

Your Mom sounds funny too.

I don't drink gin or really any hard liquor. I am more of a beer/wine person.

I told my Mom that she needs a James Bond style briefcase with all her special drinks. She could open it up and it would be an instant bar.

She asked me again last night when I was going to get on skype.

my mom has been reduced to only saying "I'm learning, I'm learning, I'm learning. Your Mother!" and that phrase can mean just about anything at all. She says this in reference to anything. Recently, she chewed out my 17

Before I share these wacky quotes, let me just say that all these years later, my mother and I have a great relationship. When I was a teenager, not so much.

"You shouldn't study so hard, the boys don't like the smart ones."

"I've noticed that you don't have any boyfriends, doesn't that bother you?"

As I would leave for school in the morning, "Before you leave I want to check to make sure you have enough make-up on."

This was so funny to me...my beloved Mom was always and I mean ALWAYS doing this to me...I was a bit of a "tom-boy" not much in to make-up...LOVED to play foot-ball, hung around my brother's friends in high school and had guy friends not b/f's..definitely not "girly-girly" and she tried to manage my Social Life which is so funny...I end up agreeing to go to things and then when I started to exercise my independence she got mad...gotta love her!
I think she had better luck with my little sister...;)...:)
Sometimes I wish she could have seen me when I finally got to go to college as a Single Mom of two kids my dd and ds.
I know she would have been proud, I knew she always felt bad when I didn't go after high school, I got a job to help out our family at home...
Since losing my job and some health issues I am thinking of going back to school in September 2010...I am doing this for me but I know she will be cheering me on.

My mom is the queen of pessimism.
