going back to school online

Hi all, I really need this message board b/c I am a 39 yr old wife and mother with full time job going back to school. I decided to start during the summer and signed up and paid for two classes. One of which is kicking my butt! MicroEconomics! Two chapters every 7 days....lots of graphing in the homework which is 40% of my grade. I should of known better to jump on a hard class for first time back. I am passed the drop date for a refund and my hubby wants me to give it my best and keep at it. (Which he is a great help, he understands the graphs better than I do!) So encouraged by all your posts, my hats off to all you moms, wives with full time jobs and online school.
BTW-I am online with a community college for Computer INformation Technology. I already do that in my job but just have no credentials! I have an Associates in Acctg...long story.

As a mom who works full-time (for pay...all moms work f/t ;) ) and goes to school, I can definitely sympathize. When my son was younger and I was married to my ex, it was MUCH more difficult. But with my second marriage and good support, it's definitely easier, but still challenging at times.

And YIKES..microeconomics sounds rough! My undergrad was in psychology and the graduate degree that I'm currently working on is in counseling, which is a good thing, since I'm not much of a numbers person. But I agree with your husband...hang in there and see how you do. The first class I took when I went back many years ago was genetics, and I kicked myself for taking such a hard class right out of the gate. But I survived, and you will, too.

Good luck on your online adventure. Sometimes online classes can be really tough but once you get to a point where you know the processes and expectations it at least for me has always turned into a great learning experience. I have taken a few in the past but next week I start my Masters and it will be all online. So scary, but hey we can do it right.

I have a 14 month old and one on the way and work outside the home 40-50 hrs a week. This is gonna be a challenge for us all but hey moms can do anything.

Welcome to the board and congrats on starting back!

I'm Michaelann, our cl. I started back to school in 2007 at 30 as a freshman at community college. I am finishing my 3rd now, with about 3 more to go for my BS in Geology plus my teaching credential.

Glad you found us!

I also have an online class, first one and it's also my last to graduate and it was only available online. I feel it is much harder to do an online course, it takes dedication to get online and "go to class" and not get sidetracked, which I do quite a bit, lol.
