Not really sure if I should put this here or under another folder but here goes...

I'm Vicki, a 40 year old, married (20 yrs), stay-at-home mom up until recently when I signed on to get my CNA on my way to joining the nursing program at the local community college. I have to have my CNA, A&P I, and a decent score on the NLN before I can apply to the RN program. I start my CNA course in October, take my NLN in December, and will start A&P I in January. I went back to college once before in 2001 but didn't finish because I became pregnant with my daughter and due to complications had to be on bed rest. After she was born, I just didn't go back. I figured I'd wait till she was older. My prior coursework is going to apply towards my RN and thank goodness I had a pretty good GPA back then, lol. After A&P I, if I'm accepted into the program, I will only need to take A&P II and the nursing courses/clinicals to finish off my degree. Which is probably for the best because I couldn't do everything..regular courses on top of nursing..right now. I'm too impatient, lol.

Okay, guess I've blown enough hot air for one post. Just wanted to intro myself. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Hope your Monday is a great one!

hi Vicki! Welcome aboard! I graduate with my RN this winter. It's been a long haul! Good for you just doing it. It's tough to go back at 40, I know, it's what I did, too. Your program is different from ours. What is the NLN? I know it's a school accreditation, National League for Nursing. I didn't know it was also an exam. Keep us posted. Some days here are busy, some are slow. Today looks like a slow one.

Hi Vicki, I am another nursing student here. I am currently in the LPN program and will bridge into the last 2 semesters of the RN program next fall. I am married and have 3 boys (11,7,3). I must say the program I am in has been pleasantly easier than I expected, but I am still ready to be finished with it!

Hey Vicki- I'm another nursing student too :)

If I make it alive through med-surg (and I'm beginning to think med-surg is just not my thing LOL) I will

Hi Vicki!

I'm 40 too and went back to school last year. There are a lot of pluses to going back older, the professors respect you more, you get really good at time mgmt & at least for me, I definitely appreciate and want to learn what is taught in class, kwim?

Welcome & best wishes!! Sounds like you will have lots of fellow mom students to share nursing stories with! I'm going for education and hope to teach elem. special ed.
