It was really interesting to see the increase in online degrees earned between now and 2001.  The amount of online degrees given by the University of Phoenix is huge (6,000!).  Does anyone know if a University of Phoenix education is respected by employers?  I have heard so many mixed reviews from students who have gone there.

I really don't know how employers feel about an online degree. While about half of my classes have been taken online, it is still through a traditional brick and mortar university, so it is still a "traditional" degree. I'm not even sure how to go about finding out how employers feel about online degrees.

University of Phoenix is NOT accredited, so it is kind of a bogus "degree" although I am not trying to diss the educational experience that a student would get there. I just watched a disturbing Frontline (pbs.org/Frontline) documentary on for-profit schools (U of Phoenix is for-profit). But there are a lot of accredited degrees you can earn online. And Harvard, MIT and many other Universities are offering free online courses now, so opinions of online courses are changing which is good.
