Weekend Check In
2
Sat, 02-13-2010 - 12:24pm

Hi, hope it's ok to start this. Anyone else around this weekend?

It is sooo quiet w/DH & the little kids gone. DD had rehearsal last night & then again at 8am. She's coming home for lunch then back for the afternoon, then again after dinner. She has the car so I'm home but I don't want to go anywhere anyway.

So far I finished our taxes & filed them yesterday, filled out all my financial aid paperwork for the 10-11 term and found a potential scholarship for a summer class I want to take. I can't get aid for just 1 class and can pay out of pocket, but would rather not if I can help it. I'm already going to pay for one at another school because mine only offers it odd times.

I need to do homework & job work but not really motivated yet. I could also clean the house and paint while it's quiet. However, that involves movement & I'm lazy!!

What does everyone else have planned for the weekend?

Hi - and happy weekend.

I hardly think you are lazy, take advantage of the quiet.

Our weekend started well. We had an Olympic feast (a food to represent each ring/continent) and watched the opening ceremonies. Actually I struggled with Australia for a food, so I went with red wine for that on.

Today I took my little one to her chess club and after have to run a couple errands. Tonite we are all going to a friends for dinner.

Tomorrow I need to do some work and go to the gym. I am marking part 2 of

Spent all morning volunteering at the Science Olympiad (junior high/high school science competition) It was really fun, I obviously really enjoyed watching the kids compete. I was helping at the "Write It/Do It" competition. One partner got to look at a prototype of a made-up object built out of styrofoam/toothpicks, beads, etc. And had to write instructions only using words for their partner to recreate it (without ever seeing it) It was neat to observe all the ways the kids approached the problem. Some groups did amazing and pretty much nailed it, others, wow, it was like they didn't even see the same object!

After that we went to see The Lightning Thief. SO SO disappointing. I'm a HUGE fan of the books and it did not follow the plot. I understand some details being left out, but they butchered it to the point that I couldn't even enjoy the movie.

Then we went out to dinner. Tomorrow - I don't know. Plan got messed up by this stupid extra credit chemistry workshop on resume writing. I'm sure its great info, but I am not going to be writing one for at least 3 years, so I hate to give up V-day for it. But I NEED the 10 points extra credit.
