All this job stuff is beginning to get to me now. My co-workers will be leaving the office this week and they are unlikely to be able to take any of their files with them so where do they go???! I'm trying to clear out years of stuff from my office but again where do they go. Personal ones I can taken home but others need to go somewhere official. I had my first migraine for many years and I think it's due to all this stress. I may have another 3-4 weeks to wait to find out what's happening.

What else this week? I think some of DD's activities start back. They have school photos taken this week. And on Saturday her BFF is going speed boating for her birthday party!

Hope you all have a good week

We're trying to figure out when Eid is. There are two way to calculate Eid. The first is by the sighting of the moon (two degrees above the horizon), and the second by a calculation of the position of the moon. Which means... there's often a discrepancy of one to two days.

A couple hours ago the government has announced that Eid will fall on Wednesday, based on today's sighting of the moon (it was seen, but it was less than two degrees above the horizon). The second largest Muslim organization, which bases itself on calculations, will celebrate Eid tomorrow.

Two days of celebrations. We're celebrating tomorrow (mainly because my mum is ill and is just plain tired), but our housekeeper is celebrating Wednesday. This is going to be interesting!

Then lots of work to catch up on, plus housework plus recovery from flu.

The Turkish community here will celebrate it on Tuesday (based on the number of days they have fasted, I understand) Pakistanis (the predominant Muslim community where I live) may or may not celebrate it on Tuesday. Sometimes it's on a different day.

DH is going to the meal tomorrow morning. I 'm just going to work. I might have gone but I have a meeting. DD will probably still go to school. We don't really celebrate Eid much because for nearly 17 years DH had no-one to celebrate it with!! We did once go to a street celebration when DD was about 7 but she felt bad as she wasn't wearing the same as everyone else - they were all from a Pakistani background. By chance we found a second hand shop open amongst the celebrations and bought her a shalwar kamize (can't spell!) which she wore over her clothes so she was happy. Of course I stood out a lot with blonde hair.

DD did an assembly at school on Friday and she and 5 or 6 others from her class had to make a speech about Eid. As she is fair by comparison, most people don't believe she is Muslim.

Thanks Poppy. Hope your mum feels better soon - and you too if you also have flu.

I've just found out I have an interviewon 14 September so still a while to wait. But at least I should know the day after if I have a job or not.

Thanks.

We have a very new records store and an archive for files and papers but it takes quite a long time to sort

A couple of weeks can seem so short yet such a long time all at once.

As they say in Italy, in bocca al lupo for the interview.

Moss, just one word: Eeeek!

But it does remind me that I want to scan a lot of old documents at work and have them stored somewhere safe. Then shred the originals dating more than 6 years which we don't need anymore.

Thanks!

Our formal archives are all hard copy and date back 30 years. There is no central store of scanned or digitised records at the moment although people keep their own.
