In what language do you and your family watch TV?

DH often watches hindi channels when he does watch something else than Cricket (not often), I find hindi serials extremely stupid so I don't watch them, and I don't have the time or patience to sit through a hindi movie on TV which with the commercial breaks added will be close to 4 hours long, especially since I might not grasp the full movie, my hindi isn't that good. So I watch TV in English, though of course I don't get to do a lot of that as my favourite shows aren't kids appropriate, Castle and Bones are something I don't want my daughter to watch, she has plenty of time to get to see bloody corpse on TV, needless to say I indulge into these series watching them online when she is sleeping.
Ishi doesn't watch much TV because these channels have not always the best content and the commercials on kids channels are about 90% junk food and 10% barbie and hot wheels, I just don't think it's appropriate the few times she watched the TV she suddenly wanted chewing gums and candies by the truck load when going shopping...no way!
So we buy DVDs of age appropriate shows for her to watch, her favourite is Dora the explorer and Handy Manny, two cartoons that also promote bilingualism. She watches them in their original version, so "TV" is in English for her.

We really only have the option for English or Spanish here. Sometimes, I'll turn on the soaps on the Spanish language station. I studied Spanish for 7 years, but I've lost a lot of my conversational skills since I don't have anyone to talk to (use it or lose it, right?).

Oh yes leanguages are definitely a use it or lose it thing, I wasn't the best student in Italian but still fine, today I could not speak a sentence to save my life, ditto with German. Just last night I had a crazy dream in which for some reason I was to take a German exam on a book I didn't read and didn't know I had to read, in the dream we were allowed to have the book with us, and I could not even read a word...argh, in the dream it was super stressful, and I woke up stressed out from it LOL

I even noticed that I sometimes struggle to find a French word nowaday because I don't use French as much as I used to, but I guess loosing a native language is less likely to happen.
