Name/nickname: JM (my real first name would give my identity away ;-) )

Location: tiny village (pop. <1000) in northwest Germany, 20 minutes from the Dutch border

Your cultural background: Born in New Orleans but raised as a Cajun expat in Texas. I've got 25% Italian blood in me, too, though. Lol. I started learning languages at 12, but I only stuck with German - so I speak English and natively and German fluently. I'll pretend to understand French, Spanish and some Russian though. ;-)

SO's cultural background: German, also fluent in English and speaks some French.

Any kids? If so, tell us about them: We're expecting our first child in October and plan to raise it bilingually. We'd also like to eventually learn Dutch together, since it would be very practical for us.

Your profession and/or hobbies: My hobbies were figure skating and ballet, but haven't had a chance to do those lately. I also enjoy graphics, photography, cooking and sewing. I work from home as a freelance translator and am writing a spec screenplay for my agent here in Germany. I'm so far behind from all the morning sickness, though. Oh dear!

I look forward to 'meeting' you all. Feel free to add whatever else you'd like to share!

Oh I used to work as a freelance translator too before Ishi was born, after that it was though to put in enough hours of translation to be productive and still is so I'm no longer doing it, beside the 2 hours I have when she is in school are my two ME TIME hours, I need these to remain sane, makes no sense to work for these two hours.
